In Memory of
Nicholas G. Allard
November 1, 1928 - June 7, 2011
Nicholas Godric Allard was born in St. Andrews, Grenada, West Indies on November 1, 1928. Nick (as he was affectionately called) grew up in Grenada and graduated from Grenada Boys Secondary School.
He left Grenada in 1951 to join his parents and the rest of the family in Aruba where he resided until 1958 when he relocated to England to further his studies at Oxford University. He then moved on to the University of Kiel where he received his degree in Dentistry in 1968. The challenge of learning German presented a great hurdle for Nick, but he successfully mastered the language.
In 1968, he returned to Grenada to begin his practice as a dentist. After a short time, Nick relocated to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, to continue his practice of dentistry.
Nick met and married Marie-Ange Basile in 1977. They resided in St. Thomas for many years until his relocation to Barbados, where he continued his work with Project Hope. Upon conclusion of his assignment, Nick, Marie and their son, Emile, returned to St. Thomas where he accepted a position with the St. Thomas government and established his private practice.
Nick retired with his family to Orlando, Florida, in 1996 where his sister Ruby and brother Gilbert reside. Nick had a passion for sports, especially tennis. He not only played well, but also encouraged and taught Emile, his son, to be a fine tennis player.
Those whose lives he touched will miss Nick's gentle spirit, encouragement and kindness.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Marie-Ange, and his son, Emile. He also leaves two brothers, Gilbert and Walton, sister Ruby as well as in-laws, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
