Vivian Elizabeth Akin, 102, entered into eternal peace on
September 18, 2015 at Westgate Gardens in Visalia, CA. Vivian was born one of three children to James and Alice Turner in Hoisington, KS on January 15, 1913.
She married Elmer Akin on February 26, 1930. Later that year, they moved to California. She spent most of her life living in and around Visalia, CA where she raised her seven children. Vivian, known to most as mom or grandma, was
devoted to her family. She worked alongside her husband many years on farms,dairies and ranches throughout Tulare County. She enjoyed sewing, quilting,canning, cooking and baking pies.
Vivian is preceded by her parents, James and Alice; brother, Everett Turner; sister, Ethel Gray; husband of over 40 years, Elmer Akin; sons Billy Joe Akin and George Akin; and daughters, Lucille(Clifford) Hacker, Dixie (Bobby) Hanna, and Glenda Jean (Dwayne) Boswell, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Vivian will forever be remembered by her son Herman (Sandra) Akin of Visalia, CA, son Leroy Akin of Topeka, KS, 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be Wednesday,September 23, 2015, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will at Visalia District
Cemetery on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Condolence can be sent to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. The Akin family would like to extend their
gratitude to all of the staff at Westgate Garden for their attentiveness and loving care.
