Mr. Leo G. (Bud) Hayward, 23 year resident of Muskogee passed away Tuesday in a local hospital. Born June 8, 1912 in Kirklin, Indiana to Harry and Esta (Stewart) Hayward; he spent his early years in Indiana. Mr. Hayward was a member of the Marine Corps 1929-1931. He married Alice (Blaylock) Morgan on Oct 5, 1947 in Monticello, Indiana. Moving to Muskogee in 1966, he worked for Ammons Modern Auto Repair for several years then Love Bottling Company. After retiring in 1984; Leo worked part-time as a private security guard and providing transportation for
skydivers at the annual Air Show.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Bob Hayward of Whittier, California and one son, Raymond (Tom) Haywrad of Muskogee.
Surviving are his wife, Alice of the home; six daughters, Barbara Roach of Folkston, GA; Sue Strong and
Patty Goodman, both of Indianapolis, IN; Lea Lumpkin and Linda Goad, both of Muskogee; and Scherrelle Branch of Ft. Gibson, OK. Also, four sons, Charles Morgan of Okmulgee; Joe Hayward of Radnor, WVa.; Ken Morgan of Muskogee and Russ HAyward of Ft. Gibson, OK. Surviving siblings are five sisters, Dean Gyllenhammer of Unionville, IN; Helen Bennett of Purcell, OK; Nellie Robison of Beaver, OK; Leona Snyder of Indianapolis, IN; and Jackie Shannon of Elwood, IN; four brothers, Gene Hayward of Muskogee; Harry Hayward of Tacoma, WA; Forrest and Jerry Hayward both of Elwood, IN. He is also survived by 43 grandchildren and 45 great-grand children.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday in the Lescher Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. D. B. Woods, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers
will be David Hayward, Steve Lumpkin, Jim Branch,John Goad, Ralph Goad and Elvin Penn. Committal prayers and interment will follow at the graveside in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family is being served by Lescher Funeral Home.
