A memorial service for Robert D. Ambrose will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Mt. Scott Church of God. Mr. Ambrose died of cancer Friday in his Southeast Portland residence. He was 75.

Mr. Ambrose was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Missoula, Mont. He worked for Boeing during World War II and as a home builder in the Missoula area for several years. He subsequently went into banking and worked at Far West Federal Savings and Loan. He had been a Portland-area resident since 1973.

Mr. Ambrose was a member of Mt. Scott Church of God and the Western Woodcarvers Association of Portland. In Montana he had belonged to the Algena Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite Temple, the Missoula Masonic Lodge and the Elks.

In addition to Marie T., his wife of 20 years, Mr. Ambrose is survived by his daughters, Marie Stuart of Portland, Trina of Kalispell, Mont., Lynda Chud of Wasilla, Alaska, and Sue Ann Dolan of Portland; sons, Carl of Bigfork, Mont., and Craig of Somers, Mont.; brother, Lewis of Hood Canal, Wash.; sisters, Ruth Stennett of Olympia, Aileen Ambrose of Vancouver, Wash., Jane Pinkley of Phoenix, Ariz., and Catherine May of Denver; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Providence Hospice or to the Oregon division of the American Cancer Society.

Disposition was by cremation.
