Lila Mary Ann Morris Adams, 87, a resident of Salem, died at the Salem Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008. She was born on Dec. 14, 1920 in Rufus, the fourth child to Walter and Minnie (Hulery) Morris. She grew up in Rufus and attended both Rufus Elementary and Rufus High school. She married Frank Page Adams on May 27, 1938 in Vancouver, WA. Together they had six children.
She and her family lived in Arlington for 15 years and later moved to The Dalles, where they lived for 21 years. They eventually settled in Salem and have resided there for the last 31 years.
She worked and retired from Qwest Telephone Company. She enjoyed reading, traveling and most of all being with family. She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers and the Cherry Valley Camper Club.
She is survived by her siblings, Jean Brown and Bob Morris, Rufus; Marjorie Klock, Portland; and Betty Myers Opperman, St. Helens; her daughters, Nancy and husband Ron Switzer, Palmyra, Va.; Sandra Adams, Salem; Francine Adams, Portland; Cherri and husband Keith Keller, The Dalles; her son, Morris and wife Debbie Adams, Kent, Wash.; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Erin Marguiss, Portland; Kimberly and Joe Pomykacz, Charlotte, N.C.; Rhonda Switzer, Palmyra; Andrew and Bonnie Switzer, Yorktown, Va.; Casey and Teresa Kolb, Salem; Callie and Greg Charlton, Salem; Calen and Kimberly Kolb, Keizer; Tracy and Patrick Nagy, Vancouver, Wash.; Cindy and Chris Chambers, Portland; Jason and Sarah Keller, Hood River; Chelsea Adams, Matt and Bradley; great grandchildren, Owen and Elijah Pomykacz, Cassaundra Kolb, Quinton and Reese Charlton, Kaitlyn and Brittany Nagy, Campbell and Mallory Keller, Isabella Marquiss, McKenia, Dillon and Brooke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Adams, daughter Elizabeth Jean and brother, Joe Morris. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at Sunrise Cemetery, Wasco, with Rev. Marvin D. Jones officiating and arrangements in the care of Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Assistance League of Salem-Operation School Bell or First United Methodist Church of The Dalles.
