About 3:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon the lifeless body of John Henry Kincaid, 72, of the Knoxville community, was found hanging on a tree approximately half a mile from his home on an adjoining farm. He had left home horseback about 10 o'clock in the morning and told his wife he would return about 11 o'clock. When he failed to return home, Mrs. Kincaid started looking for him and called Knoxville about noon. Searching parties started out and the four men who found him were John D. Patton, George Alexander, J .O. Swafford and Warren Martin. Dr. John F. Baber, Ray county coroner, was called. He declared it to be a suicide and no coroner's inquest was necessary. Neighbors said Mr. Kincaid had been in poor health for some time. He was a lifetime resident of the Knoxville community, born January 19, 1877, on the old Kincaid farm east of Knoxville. He was one of seven children of Andrew Jackson Kincaid of Tennessee and Mary Ann (Renfro) Kincaid of Missouri. He was a member of the Knoxville Methodist church and a farmer. He was married December 23, 1900 to Miss Cora Belle Campbell of Ray county who survives. He is also survived by three sons; Joseph J. Kincaid of Wellington, John Henry Kincaid, Jr., of Richmond and Dorris C. Kincaid of Excelsior Springs; six daughters, Mrs. Raymond Basham of Lawson, Mrs. B. B. Basley of Excelsior Springs, Mrs. Charles Wollard of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Alney Russell of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mrs. E. H. VanBebber of Knoxville and Mrs. I. I. McCulley of Kansas City, Kansas; and one sister, Miss Sarah E. Kincaid of Tulsa, Okla., eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Knoxville church. The Elder Leon Clevenger of Excelsior Springs officiated. Burial was in Sunny Slope cemetery in Richmond. Honorary pall bearers were Claude VanBebber, Herbert Hauser, Charles Alexander, Whitmer Lile, Dan Lile, William Schooler, Clinton VanBebber, John VanBebber and Clay Hamilton. Pall bearers were Arthur Kincaid, David Lile, George Alexander, John D. Patton, Floyd Clark and Ted Poteet. Quest-Lile Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
