Born in Iowa, but moved to SD with her family at a very early age. She grows up in Twin Brooks, SD. The family moves to Mille Lacs Co., MN about 1920, so Nell finishes her high school years in Milaca. In 1924 she marries Carlie Anderson. They first farm in the Milaca area, then eventually move to the Twin Cities. Nell works for a time for Northwest Airlines. Later she and Carlie run a business records firm together. Later still, Nell works at J.C. Penneys. Nell and Cab retire to the Milaca area, when Cab's health fails. Nell outlives Cab by 20 years, dying in 1996 at age 91.
