Chancey Dean Child
Chancey Dean Child passed away peacefully Thursday, December 23, 2010 in Washington, Utah.
Dean was born April 22, 1318 in Clinton, Utah to Chancey and Loretta Rice Child.
He married Melba Bodily in 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple. From this union there were four children. Melba passed away in August of 1979. He later married Beverly Petersen in September 1993.
He served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII and was stationed in Panama.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many capacities. He was an electrical contractor, owner of Dean Child Electric. He was known for his dedication and the quality of his work. Those who worked with him learned from his strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
He enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Hebgen Lake, MT., which he shared with many friend s and relatives. He loved fishing and being on the lake. He retired in St. George where he thrived among many old and new friends. He particularly enjoyed having his daughter Merilyn nearby.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, his children: Merilyn (Lorin Shelton) Washington, UT; Teresa (Bob Ruth) Boise, ID; Doug (Brenda Dawson) North Logan, UT; Jana (Jim Navratil) Seatt;e. WA; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one brother Derral M. Child.
He was preceded in death by sisters Kathryn Simpson and Clara Olsen.
