William Becht, Jr., 88, Kokomo, passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Golden Living Center-Sycamore Village, Kokomo. Born May 4, 1924, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late William Becht, Sr. and Margaret (Linksey) Becht.
He was a 1942 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended Purdue University. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. On May 6, 1950, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kokomo, he married Mary Angela (Hawn). She preceded him in death in 2000.
He was employed with Cuneo Press in 1950 in various positions. He then worked for World Color Press as a customer service representative, retiring in 1989, after over 39 years in the business.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Elks Lodge in Salem, Ill., and past member of Wildkat Geological Society.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Ray Becht, Kokomo; one daughter, Angela L. Becht, Kokomo; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, John Becht in 2006; and one sister, Mary D. McGaffney.
A mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., Kokomo. Father Tony Rowland will celebrate. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park.
