David Gibson Beard, 64, Kokomo passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Samuel and Claudia (Walker) Gibson. He was one of three sons born to this union, including Samuel Jr. and Devere. After the death of their parents and grandparents, the boys were adopted by Earl Nathan and Gladie Lee Beard, Kokomo.
He attended City of Refuge Church of God in Christ. He was educated in the Kokomo Public School System.
Those left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren, Damarco Guerra, Isaiah Jackson, and Attya Abdullah; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah Jackson and Malachi Jackson; nine brothers, Samuel Jr., (Minnesota), Devere (Miami, Fla.), Robert "Red," Harry (Etiwanda), Larry, Gary (Connie), all of Kokomo, Herman, Robert Walker (Vanessa), Indianapolis, Sylvester (Enga), Detroit Mich.; six sisters, Erma Pendergrass, Willie Ann (Robert) Thompson, Mazzie Beard-Gaillard, Mamie Williams, Sarah Forte, Earline (Richard) Floyd, sister-in-law, Audrey Jean Beard, Kokomo, and Pearl Rowan, New Brunswick, N.J.; and a host of family and friends.
David's only daughter, Danielle Monique Cox, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his adopted parents, Earl and Gladie Beard; three brothers, Ivory, Earl Jr. "Baby June" Beard and Beauregard Rowan.
Services are noon Saturday at Grace Memorial Institutional Church of God In Christ. Pastor Sylvester Rowan will be the officiant and Pastor Harry L. Beard will be the eulogist.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. Burial in Crown Point Cemetery.
