|Birth: ||Jun. 1, 1881|
Anne was the daughter of John McClellan Stevenson and Ellen Adelaide MacPherson Stevenson, and she was the wife of American concert pianist Frederic Dixon.
Anne was a singer and teacher of voice. She received her training in Minneapolis at Northwestern Conservatory. She moved to New York City, where she established a voice studio. She met her future husband there.
Frederic and Anne were married in Blair, Nebraska on August 1, 1913. The Dixons returned to New York as concert artists and teachers. Newspaper articles indicate that Anne was active in New York City and New Jersey as a teacher as late as 1949 (age 68).
It appears that Anne endowed an opera company, the Anne Stevenson Dixon Opera Theatre of Elizabeth, New Jersey. The company was founded in 1968 and disbanded in 1987.
A death notice for her is yet to be found. Frederic's obituary states that Anne died before him; Frederic died in 1969.
