Elmer J. Aaron was a close friend and associate of Frederic Dixon for over forty years. Prior to his study with Mr. Dixon he studied piano with Glenn Hanson and organ with J. Clair Anderson. Mr. Aaron played the theater organ in the Paramount and Orpheum theaters in Ogden. He later studied harmony and theory with Siegurd Fredericksen, first cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, who also taught Meredith Willson.

In 1972 Mr. Aaron made a generous donation to Weber State University after the death of Mr. Dixon, including the gift of a Steinway concert grand piano and the establishment of the Frederic Dixon Memorial Lounge.

Obituary from the Ogden Standard-Examiner, Oct 26, 1979:

Elmer Joseph Aaron, 64, of South Ogden, died Wed. Oct. 24, 1979, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Ogden, a son of Lucius Patrick and Willie Carpenter Aaron.

He had been a bookkeeper at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1970. He had lived in Salt Lake City, returning to Ogden in 1969. He was educated in Weber County Schools, and was a member of the LDS Church. He had been a local musician, owned a band and played piano and organ in local theaters years ago.

Surviving are three brother and three sisters; George P. Aaron, Fruit Heights; Edward T. Aaron, El Salvidor [sic], Central America; Alton E. Aaron, St. George; Clarrissa A. Fry, Ogden; Mrs. Wally (Annie) Roth, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. William J. (Wilma) Hegstrom, Uintah.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel. Friends may call Friday 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday prior to services. Cremation will follow funeral services at Lindquist and Sons Crematory.
