Roland J. Abellard was born on November 28, 1937 in Port-au-Prince Haiti to the late Louis J. Abellard and Stephanie Gilbert. After the death of his mother, Roland relocated to Jeremie to reside with his Aunt Ursule. His childhood years in Jeremie, sparked an interest in the Boy scouts where he became familiar with life survival skills, which included his future hobbies of baking desserts and cooking.
Upon returning to Port-au-Prince, Roland advanced with a bright future in his love of mathematics at Lycee Petion. This sparked interest gave him the foundation for his career in Computer Assisted Drawing and Structural Engineering.
Here in Port-au-Prince, Roland met his wife to be Evelyne Bellegarde. In 1968 the couple wed in the Bronx, New York. From this union, two sons were born, Ronald and Stephane. The family settled in Silver Spring Maryland where they are current parishioners of the St. Camillus Parish.
Roland leaves to cherish fond memories of his devoted wife Evelyne of forty four years, his sister Therese Disla who affectionately called him "Ti-be", her daughter Marjorie Cross Newark NJ, his two sons Ronald Abellard Tucson, AZ; Stephane Abellard and his wife Kya Burtonsville, MD; Three grandchildren Erika, Cymona and Alexis Abellard Tucson AZ. And one great nephew Ty Cross Newark, NJ and a host of devoted friends and relatives.
