DEATH OF ADAM ADLER
Adam N. Adler, 260 Highland st., Hammond, passed away this morning at 9 o'clock after a long lingering illness. The funeral for which definite arrangements are in the making, will probably be held Tuesday morning with burial at Mt. Mercy cemetery.
Mr. Adler is survived by his widow, Susan, nee Schweitzer, and his five children, Frances, wife of Nicholas J. Ludwig, of Fairhope, Alabama, Theresa, wife Charles A. Carroll, and three sons, William, George and Clarence of Hammond.
Two daughters by Mrs. Ludwig and a son by Mrs. Carroll are his only grandchildren.
Three sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Jacob Heiny of South Gary, Mrs. John Miller and Sam Vonish of Griffith.
Numerous friends and acquaintances who liked Mr. Adler for his quiet unassuming ways will also mourn his going. He was a member of the North American Union, the Schererville Court of Catholic Foresters and St. Joseph church in Hammond.
Mr. Adler was born at Turkey Creek and last July 29th, passed his 65th birthday. Most of his active years were spent on the farm. Sixteen years ago he moved his family to Hammond and here he became a steady and dependable employee of Standard Steel Car Co. About five years ago owing to kidney trouble Mr. Adler started into a steady decline which made him a total invalid last summer.
The body will lie in state at the home tomorrow afternoon until the hour of the funeral Tuesday for which the definite hour is to be announced later.
