Jane E. Wheller was born in Holnest, Dorset, England, 26 May 1853, one of at least ten children born to John and Elizabeth Sims Wheller. The parish church in Holnest (St. Mary's) records her baptism on 6 June 1853. The Wheller family remained in Holnest until at least 1857, after which time they moved to Clifton Maybank, Dorset. On 7 December 1876, Jane, 23, married James B. Lawrence, 50, in Geauga County, Ohio, probably in Newbury: Jane is listed as "Jennie" on the Marriage Record. The Lawrences had at least three children: Frank J. (b. 1877); Mary (b. 1878); and Elma A. (b. 1880). James died on 6 September 1897 in Newbury, and is buried in Newbury Center Cemetery together with his first wife, Amy M. Bosworth. In the 12th U.S. Federal Census in 1900 (13 June), Jane is listed as a widow, living in Burton, Geauga County, OH: Frank and Elma are still living with Jane at this time. According to the 13th U.S. Federal Census of 1910 (2 May), Jane and daughter Alma live on "North Cheshier St." in Burton. On 19 March, 1919, Jane E. Wheller Lawrence (64) married Vincent C. Jeanes (70) in Lake County, OH. The 14th U.S. Federal Census for 1920 (8 January) lists Vincent and Jane as living on Woodland Ave. in Howland Twp., Warren, Trumbull County, OH. Vincent died 28 November 1925 in Warren, Ohio, and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
