Alice Jeanette CLAYTON was born at Dodge City, Nebr., October 10, 1874. Her young womanhood was spent in Nebraska and in Utah. In 1896 she was married to William F. CROSS at Grand Junction and following their marriage the couple came to Routt county homesteading in the Deep creek country. They later moved to the Elk river section. Her husband predeceased her in 1942.
Surviving are eight children, J. B. CROSS, W. L. CROSS, and Roy CROSS, all of Steamboat Springs; Ray CROSS of Rawlins, Wyo., Emery CROSS of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. J. H. SPENCER of Nampa, Idaho; Mrs. Jack WHALEY, Eureka, Calif.; Mrs. Ed TREBILCOCK, Burle, Idaho; one brother, James CLAYTON, Rifle, and one sister, Mrs. Charles MOSHER, Mesa, Colo. Twenty-one grand children and 11 great grand children also survuve.
