Deceased Name: Lonnie Leslie Anthony Retired MMES electrical engineer
Lonnie Leslie Anthony, 80, of Brentwood, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at his home after an extended illness.
Before moving to Brentwood, Mr. Anthony had lived in Oak Ridge for 47 years. He retired in 1985 from Martin Marietta Energy Systems. He had worked at the plants as an electrical engineer for 41 years, and he was a life senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
He had been a member of Kiwanis International for 35 years and had served one year as president of the Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge. Mr. Anthony was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
He held a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas, and a master's degree, also in electrical engineering, from the University of Tennessee.
Mr. Anthony was active in the Church of Christ in Oak Ridge and in Nashville as a Bible teacher, elder and deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Geri Anthony; his daughters, Barbara Carole Lowe, Lynn Ann Spake, Mary Katherine Davis and Karen Leslie Wyatt; his son, Richard Allan Anthony; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Highland View Church of Christ, 138 Providence Road with ministers Harold Scott and David Wallace officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Mullins, Jo-David Keith, Robert Wallace, Thomas Haynes, Steve Smith, Mark Smith, Jeff Salamacha and Mike Farrar.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to World Christian Broadcasting, the Tennessee Children's Home or Lipscomb University.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, Nashville, is handling the arrangements.
