Sarah Jane Elizabeth Gaston, daughter of George W. and Francis [née Davis] Gaston, was born January 14th 1872 in Monroe County, Tennessee. Sarah was known as "Jennie" by her her twn sibling and family.
At the age of 19, Jennie married Marion Washington Barnes on November 8th 1891. Marion, known as Bud and Jennie made their home in Rogers, Arkansas and raised their two daughters:

Jennie Barnes Dies Wednesday Morning After Long Illness
Mrs. Jennie Barnes, 71 years old, died at her home at 523 North Fifth street at 6:40 o'clock Wednesday morning. Mrs. Barnes, who had been in ill health for several years, had lived a great part of her life in or near Rogers.
She was born Jan. 14, 1872, in Monroe county, Tennessee. She came to Benton county in 1882 with her parents, the late George W. Gaston and Frances Davis Gaston. She was married to M. W. Barnes Nov. 8, 1891, at Bentonville. Mrs. Barnes is a member of the Rogers First Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, M. W. Barnes; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Higginbotham of Kansas City and Mrs. Ida Smith of Rogers; one sister, Mrs. A. M. Barnes of Cave Springs; one brother, Henry Gaston of Sand Springs, OKLA., 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Burns funeral home, with the Rev. R. O. Barker, pastor of the First Baptist church of Rogers, and the Rev. A. J. Deason of Pea Ridge officiating.
Burial will be in the Hart cemetery, west of Rogers.
