Sanilac Train kills Vet. Tyre March 8 David Fisher 21 of Minden City World War II veteran died at 10pm. Saturday in Hubbard Memorial Hospital Bad Axe of injuries suffered hours earlier in a collision between a Pere Marquette Diesel freight engine and a horse drawn cutter.

The accident occurred on the railroad right of way about 720 feet south of the deport here Fisher
and a companion Casimer Polom were riding in the cutter which was straddling a rail when the train approached suddenly around a curve. Polom escaped injury by jumping from the cutter but Fisher, who was driving the horse was unable to get out before the engine struck the cutter. The horse suffered cuts on the flanks.

Two men apparently did not know the road into Tyre had been opened Saturday and were going down the railroad right of way which is a shorter route from Fisher's home to Tyre than the road. Trooper Eugene Edgecomb and Under sheriff Ross Dundas investigated. Fisher was married Deb 8, He was discharged from the Army about six months ago.

March 10,Military burial honors was accorded David Fisher World WarII Veteran. Wednesday morning Funeral Mary's Catholic Cemetery by Thumb Veterans Organization Post No. 1.

Rev. Joseph L. Koper will officiate at Funeral services at 9am. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Fisher who served 18 months in the paratroops before his discharge last November.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Edna Glaza Fisher. whom he married Feb 15, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fisher of Minden City. Three sisters: Mrs.
Emma Ertman of Parisville, Mrs. jClare Wrobel of Detroit and seven brothers. Boney, Clements and Russell Fisher of Detroit, Michael and Arthur Fisher both of Port Huron, Ira Fisher of Tyre and Elmer Fisher of Minden City. He was born November 7, 1925 in Minden Township Sanilac County Michigan. Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery.
