Ruth was born in Hanford, California on November 6, 1935. She passed away in Taft, California on April 7, 2010.
Ruth lived on a farm in Lemoore were she loved and cared for many animals. Her childhood days would begin at five am feeding the livestock, which she enjoyed very much. That instilled the work ethic she carried through her life.
Ruth attended Lemoore high school were she excelled in swimming and academics. Ruth met her future husband her junior year in high school, whom she married a few years later. Ruth and her husband have been married for fifty four years.
Ruth went to college at San Jose State then onto Fresno State were she received her Bachelor's degree. After having her three children she finished up at Cal State Bakersfield with her Master's degree.
Ruth taught elementary school for thirty six years, thirty one years of teaching were dedicated to Midway school in Fellows California. Ruth inspired both students and friends with her passion for teaching.
After retirement Ruth filled her days volunteering at the West Kern Oil Museum were her passion and inspiration continued to effect everyone around her.
Ruth loved to ride on the back of the motorcycle with her husband. The scenery gave her great pleasure. Ruth and her husband have ridden over six hundred thousand miles on their motorcycle, they have amazing stories of trips to Alaska, Florida and most impressive across the Panama Canal, of which they joke it only took them four hours to drive from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
Ruth has gone to join her father and mother Art and Roselea Ball, her sisters Valda Derlim and Mary Tibbett.
She leaves behind her husband, her 3 children and her beloved grandchild.
Ruth was a very loved wife, mother and friend. She will be missed dearly . She will always be in our hearts.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in the Sunset Chapel at West Side Memorial Services, 1150 4th Street Taft, CA.
Services are under the direction of West Side Memorial Services, Porteous Family.
