Joyce A. Adams, 59, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in Springfield, Mo.Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Paul Jones and Revs. Ron Chilton and Bob Sharp. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens is under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bible Baptist Church in Crane, Mo., with lunch to follow.
She was born April 12, 1942, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Earnest and Rosetta (Johnson) Chilton. She graduated from South Port High School in Indianapolis. She received her LPN license and practiced nursing for a short while. She also worked as a secretary in both Mississippi and at Oklahoma State University.
She married Glenden Adams, March 28, 1964, in Greenville, Miss., and stayed there for about eight years.She moved to Stillwater in 1967, then moved to Springfield, Mo., in 1994.
She was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Crane, Mo., and University Heights Baptist Church of Stillwater. She enjoyed working with the youth at UHBC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Marvin Chilton.
Survivors include: her husband; two daughters, Sonya Green and her husband Steven of Stillwater and Pam Patete and her husband Tony of Sand Springs and one brother, the Rev. Ron Chilton and his wife Brenda of Shelbyville, Tenn.
