Charles M. Barnes, 87, of Owaneco, IL passed away at 11:25 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1924, in Patoka, IL, the son of Charles Edward and Mary Goodin Barnes. He married Sadie Smith on July 25, 1973, in Taylorville, IL. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2010. He was retired from Continental Grain Co. of Taylorville, IL. Charles loved to fish. He also loved animals and harness racing.
Surviving are his sons: Charles Barnes of Owaneco, Randy Barnes of Owaneco, and Steve Barnes of Springfield, IL; step-children: Doreen (Cliff) Clouser of Martinsville, IL, Elizabeth (Curt) Ginger, Vivian Durbin, Doug Durbin, and Ernest Foote, all of Owaneco, IL; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Barnes of Trivola, IL; sisters: Lexi and Rose of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mary and Charles Barnes; two daughters: Pam and Joyce; wife, Sadie Barnes; and stepsons: Bill Lahr and Sam Foote.
Memorial service will be held Friday, August 5, 2011, at 6 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with Pastor Ellis Sills officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL.
