Raymond Franklin Ackerson, 42, Bedford Road, a former partner in the Zimerla Auto Shop here, died yesterday afternoon in Receiving Hospital, Detroit, where he was affiliated with the Wayne Auto Customs. He suffered a stroke earlier in the day. His wife, Mrs. Cecelia (Monahan) Ackerson, and family, who remained at the residence on Bedford Road, had planned to move to Detroit next week to join Mr. Ackerson. They secured a home there recently. Mr. Ackerson came to Cumberland in 1932 and entered into partnership with Raymond Zimerla in an auto body works business. He remained here until 1945 when he left for Detroit. Besides his widow, he is survived four children; Raymond Lorraine, Mary Lenore, Richard Thomas and John Emmett, Ackerson, all at home; two stepchildren, Mrs. Ralph Woolard, this city, and Walter Wade Cook, at home; a grandson Ralph Emmett Woolard, III; a brother, Joseph S. Ackerson, Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. Otto Bowling; Colorado.

Raymond Franklin (Speed) Ackerson, 42, Route 3, Bedford Road, a former partner in the Zimmerla Auto Shop here, died in Receiving Hospital, Detroit, Wednesday at 2 p. m., where he had been taken after suffering a stroke at 7 a m. Born in Washington, he was the son of Mrs. James A. Collins, the former Lillie (Adamson) Ackerson and the late Richard T. Ackerson. He came to Cumberland in 1932 and entered into partnership with Raymond Zlmmerla in an auto body works business, remaining here until 1945 .when he left for Detroit where he was employed, by the Wayne Auto Customs Works. His Wife, Mrs. Cecelia (Monahan) Ackerson, and family, who remained at the residence on Bedford Road, had planned to move to Detroit next week. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Salem, Ind. Surviving in addition to his wife, mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Collins. Salem, Ind., are four children, Raymond Lorraine, Mary Leonore, Richard Thomas, John Emmett Ackerson all at home; two stepchildren, Mrs. Ralph Woolard, this city; Walter Wade Cook, at home; a grandson, Ralph Emmett Woolard, III; a brother, Joseph S. Pikeman, Detroit; two sisters, Mrs Otto Boling, Vallejo, Calif; Mrs John Bonfillo, Stockton, Calif. The body will be at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. Ralph Woolard, 216 Knox Street, where services will be held Sunday at 2 p. m., with the Rev. W. Randolph Keefe, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. (Courtesy of Pat Dailey)
