|Birth: ||Feb. 25, 1877, Denmark|
|Death: ||Jan. 31, 1923|
Andrew was born as Andrew Andersen, son of Soren Christ Andersen and Cecil Mary Christensen Andersen, in Denmark and the oldest of ten children. With his parents and one brother and one sister, he came to the U.S. in May of 1882, docking in New York. The family then settled in Iowa in the Cass County, Shelby County areas.
Andrew left the family and was farming in near Clay, Shelby Co., Iowa in 1895. In 1900, he is listed as head of household on a farm near Marne Township, Cass Co. Living with him were a brother Chris and sister Mary, the siblings who were born in Denmark.
Sometime between the 1900 census and 1910 census, his name changed from Andersen to Anderson. No explanation within family accounts or records. It was told by the wife of a younger brother that she had never met Andrew.
Andrew married 22 March 1905, in Atlantic, Iowa to Minnie W. Schultz, who was born in Germany and came to the U.S. in 1891 at the age of five, presumably with her parents.
The 1910 census states that Andrew and Minnie had been married 5 years, had had two children born, 1 living, Arnold. Arnold died in California. There were at least two more children born to this marriage, Cecil and Roger. Andrew was a farmer, near Brighton, Cass Co.
The 1918 draft registration shows his residence at Menlo, Adair Co. The 1920 census lists him at Grove, Adair Co.
After his death, his wife married a second time to Benjamin Burr Brinton, and though she is buried at the Brighton cemetery under Minnie Brinton, Burr is buried at Menlo.
