Services for Ora Essie Bevers, 98, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. today at Broadview Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy McGuire, pastor of Bacon Heights Baptist Church and Truman Johnson, pastor of Broadview Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.
She died Sunday, June 2, 1996 at her daughter's residence.
She was born Aug 7, 1897 in Claytonville. She moved to Lubbock in 1934. She married Clint D. Bevers on April 21, 1945 in Lubbock. He died in January 1955. She was a charter member of Broadview Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.
She was a practical nurse for many years and later worked in the Lubbock schools' cafeterias.
Two sons, Seaborn South and John South, died in 1936 and 1990, respectively.
Survivors include a son, Virgil Merle South of Bakersfield, Calif.; three daughters, Evelyn Scott of Lubbock; Suzie Goodman of Houston and Jo Ann Winford of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Hospitality Apartments, P.O. Box 25213, Houston, Tx. 77265
