After Robert graduated from Stewart High School, he spent his youthful energy growing up with his friends in Reno.
In June, 1954, Robert signed up with the U.S. Marine Corps and after four years and a tour in the Korean conflict, he was discharged in July 1958.
Robert met and married Zelma Phoenix Baker and between them, they raised three sons, Robert D Baker Jr, Anthony and Rodney Baker, and daughter Dianne.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, hunting, fishing, and he was active in the Nevada Indian Band. After a steady life of work at the K Mart Distribution Center, in 2001, Robert retired to enjoy his 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
