Birth: Jul. 14, 1871
Death: Sep. 22, 1892

Not much is known about Otto since he was very young when he died. Below are four almost successive Obits taken from the Grand Island Daily Independent regarding Otto's death. The research was provided by contributor Kay Cynova.

Saturday, 24 September 1892 p.4
Mr.and Mrs. F.P. Cowee have received the shocking intelligence of their son Otto's death by drowning. He was twenty-one years of age and had been engaged on fruit farm at Salem, Oregon for about a year. The telegram which broiught the sad news stated nothing further than that hewas drowned. His remains will arrive here for interment about next Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Cowee have the sincerest sympathy of a host of friends.

Thursday, 29 September 1892 P.4
The remains of Otto, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cowee, have not yet arrived and perhaps will not until tomorrow. Mr. Cowee has received intelligence that there is a suspicion that his son might have been murdered. He has received a number of papers giving accounts of the affair. A comrade named Chase has been arrested on suspicion. It is stated that an insurance policy in favor of Chase on the life of young Cowee was found, which probably led to the suspicion against the former.

Friday, September 30,1892 p.4
The funeral of Otto Cowee, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.P. Cowee, who was murdered at Salem, Oregon, will take place tomorrow morning at ten o'clock from the First Baptist church. The remains will arrive this evening.

Saturday, 1 October 1892 p.4
The funeral of Otto Cowee was held this morning from the First Baptist church and was attended by many of his friends as also by the friends of his grief stricken parents, brother and sisters. The circumstances which surrounded his death and the mystery which still hovers over the accident like a dark threatening cloud, renders the affair a very, very sad one. If the sympathy of fellow men would only alleviate pain, Mr. and Mrs. Cowee can be assured the burden of their sorrows would be made lighter.
