Les was a career soldier. He enlisted in the Army in 1944, and saw action during WWII as a paratrooper and glidertrooper. He was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and called back to active duty in 1951. He served in Korea and Viet Nam as a Supply Services Officer. Les served three tours in the Far East, one in Africa and two in Europe. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 with the rank of Lt. Colonel after twenty six years of serving his country. During that time he was awarded 26 decorations including the CBI, the MSM and the Bronze Star.
He was also a licensed USCG Captain. He loved to travel and sail the Carribean.
