By 1928, Dell had met his future bride, Loretta Florence James. They married in May 10, 1928. Nine months later, their fist child was born, a girl!
By the 1930 census, Dell, Loretta & daughter lived with Loretta's parents, my father worked for an oil company digging ditches for a pipe line. The Dust Bowl hit about this time throughout Oklahoma & other Midwest states. This was a good time to move to California where other family members had moved & opportunities abounded.
Dell was able to find a variety of jobs over the years including: Department Manager, Sales manager, Service Manager, they were able to purchase their own home & pay it off within a few years. In 1947, two major events happened: first daughter marries, second daughter is born! Grandchildren started appearing by 1949.
Dell lived to see his second daughter marry & have one more grand daughter, the second one he never got to meet. He led a good & happy life, he died of a heart attack in 1978. He is buried with his wife Loretta Florence (James) Winn & his mother-in-law Cora Bell (Bacon) Freeman. They are all side by side at the East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park in Elk Grove, CA.
