Gerardo (Jerry) Mora passed away peacefully in his home in Tooele on May 30th, 2014. He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, on January 27th, 1961, to Consuelo Mora. His loving mother brought him to California at age one to raise him. From her, he learned of hard work, dedication, and service of others and the community. Setting and achieving goals was a characteristic of Jerry's that blossomed and contributed to his leadership roles.
Jerry always dreamt to work in law enforcement. He started as a Corrections Officer in the jail and worked his way up to the rank of Lieutenant and Jail Commander for the Tooele County Sheriff's Office and served there for almost 20 years. Jerry was very dedicated to his work, his integrity and innovation to find a solution in every situation was remarkable. He was a motivation and a true leader for many. He received awards for his contributions.
Family was everything to Jerry. He built the foundation for his children that contained the perfect amount of love, trust, respect, and responsibility while supporting their decisions growing up. His three boys were his life and he was their biggest fan and supporter, after all, a son's first hero is his dad, and Jerry truly was their biggest hero. He introduced them to everything from model trains, cooking, and even oldies music, yet, he didn't leave out even the smallest details that are to be appreciated. The love he had for his children and family was truly unconditional.
Jerry is survived by Vicki (Winkler) Mora, his sons Joseph (Toni Cerroni), Anthony, and Adrian (Ashlee Pechal), and Four grandsons, Caiden, Brecken, Ledger, and Paxton. He was preceded in death by his mother Consuelo and mother-in-law Louise Winkler.
