Born in Williamson County Tennessee to Jonathan/ Johnathan Marion 'John' Green and Catherine Penelope Jones who had a large family. John and Penelope were in Lauderdale County TN in the 1860 TN census year, the civil war took place. Family stories shared include, that something happened there. Penelope, and three children did "not" return to Cheatham County TN with John. Stories include, that Jack and his brother, William Washington both ran barefoot back to Cheatham County, TN to be with family members, they were spooked? What happened there remains a family mystery.. Their father, John returned and married Elizabeth Darden. They resided in Kingston Springs Cheatham County TN where John built a log house. His land and Elizabeth Darden's father had land backed up to the same area. John died 1903. On their family farm, off South Harpeth, buried in Green Cemetery, I can not locate at this time..if anyone knows of this area, I need help finding this Green Family Cemetery.
He lst married Elizabeth " Eliza " Ann Farmer in Cheatham Co TN., in 1869
Many Blessings and Thank You, to Elizabeth " Tillie" Bennett Farmer, wife of William " Willie" Farmer, in her sharing the contents of an old Farmer Bible which included the Marriage of Elizabeth Ann Farmer to Andrew Jonathan Green. It included the births of children. Marriages. Death information. Lucinda Green being born, she married Charles Bell in 1894 in Cheatham County, TN ..she was getting married when my Great Grandfather was age 4. No wonder he did not know or discuss alot of his siblings born long before him...
His first born son, George Washington Green died at about age 7.... their last born son
Charles Wheeler Green is my great grandfather.
1870/ Cheatham County, TN : At the beginning of his marriage to Eliza he lived in the Sycamore Mills, Cheatham County TN working as a Cooper Hand filling Gun Powder to be shipped / distributed for the Soliders during the Civil War. Later, he turned to Farming working in the fields with long hours in Tobacco fields.
My great grandfather told me his mother Eliza died when he was age one and did not get to know of her. His father remarried Martha Elizabeth CARNEY having 3 children, John, Thomas and Annie. Annie married Frank Prince
having two son's; she died while they were 3 and 4 in the
My great grandfather, Charles "Pappy", shared with me of his father enjoying to go fox hunting. While out foxhunting, he heard horses approach him. His eyes opened fully wide, mouth closed, there before him was Frank and Jesse James. The area had heard of the James Brothers robbed the area bank but took the deeds to families houses, and land. Jack witnessed the James Brothers take the home/ land deeds to several families, included salt bacon, ham, for the family.
Family members shared this: Jack had a known temper, and drinking, one night while out, his horse quickly stopped, the buggy, Jack was driving, he looked ahead, whatever he witnessed to seeing, per his son and grandson, changed Jack...As Jack started attending Church to even join in singing. He had a nice alto voice. Pappy would say " Only God and Jack would know of that night, that scared him to stop drinking, attend church and join in to sing!"
Andrew lost his Second wife, Martha Elizabeth Carney and her death certificate indicates she is buried at Gupton Farm in Cheatham Co TN. Andrew remarried a 3rd time in 1916 to a Mary Graves. He was then in his later years. I do not know anything of this Mary. ( Martha E Carney assisted to raise my great grandfather and some of his siblings )* Martha Elizabeth Carney is also the sister to my great great grandmother Frances Lee Carney Burgess York.
A Cousin Delsie Green Oakley I visited, had the photo of Andrew Jonathan Jack Green to share with me. And a photo of his father with his second wife and family. Which one in that photo is her father Jasper Marion Green. Delsie was told that Jack had a hard time with his life, and he turned it around by finding a Christian Church to devote his beautiful Alto Singing Voice to the congregation. She was a wealth of family stories, old family bible, stories she shared with me are priceless. May she Rest In Peace. * Delsie talked highly of her father Jasper Marion Green and of their homeplace in Kingston Springs, Cheatham, TN by the Harpeth River. Delsie shared that the Green Family Cemetery is on the old Green Family Homestead. I still can not find it and all that knew, were busy with their lives, now they are deceased unless someone related to the Green line has knowledge of it. I attached a photo of Jonathan Marion John Green to this Memorial for now.
I am blessed for my great grandfather Charles Wheeler Green
