Son of William Wadkins and Eliza McKeever,
his name was Charles Wadkins. (After he married he usually went by the spelling Watkins). He grew up in Jasper, and Shelby Counties, in Iowa. Around 1894, after his 2nd child was born, the family moved from Shelby Co., Iowa to the Minneapolis area. He was a locomotive fireman. He died in the Minneapolis Workhouse. Cause of death, strangulation,suspected suicide.
He left behind wife Ida Dell Tremain,

He is buried in an unmarked grave.
His wife Ida, who went by the name Della, died in 1911. She is buried in the same cemetery. Her name was mispelled on the death certificate, under the name Delia Watkins. When she died, their younger children were put in the Washburn Memorial Orphan Asylum.
