From the Lloyd Family Estate Papers, Lloyd's Neck, Oyster Bay, Long Island NY:
Thomas Barker was a tenant farmer for the Lloyd Family Estate of Oyster Bay Long Island. On 9AUG1783 he testified to Zopher Platt, Justice of the Peace, Suffolk County NY, that he had been a reisdent of Oyster Bay at the time that the British Crown Troops took over, and had been for 33 years previous to that time. He was seeking restitution, in the name of the Lloyd Family, for the many acres of woods that had been cut by the British for firewood and for the many horses confiscated by the British troops. The Lloyd family had a residence in Norwalk, Fairfield Co CT. Thomas' duties included various jobs in both places, including transportation by boat from one to the other.
