Jacob was the son of George Algire (1818-1898) and Jane Rebecca (Gill) Algire (1822-1898), who married on 17 Jan 1842 in Baltimore, Maryland.
In the 1900 U.S. Census, Jacob and his wife, Lucy A. (?) Algire (14 May 1861/63 - 29 May 1929), lived in the 5th District of Baltimore County, Maryland, and he was a "farmer." Their only child in 1900 was Clyde Algire (born Apr 1888).
"Mr. Jacob Algire, a well-known farmer, of Upperco, died early Wednesday morning, after a lingering illness, aged 46 years. He leaves a widow and one son. Funeral services and interment took place Thursday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Arcadia. Rev. S.J. Derr officiated."

Letters were granted on the personal estate of Jacob Algire to Lucy A. Algire, administratrix.

The will of Jacob Algire was probated on Wednesday. He gives to his widow all of his property of every kind except a 3-year-old colt, which shall go to his son, Claude Algire.
