Melvina "Milly" Ash was the daughter of Charles Ash and Grassy "Grace" Strange-Ash. Milly had come to Kentucky from Maryland with her parents.

On May 7, 1798, Milly married Ignatius Strange. She was 21 at the time of her marriage. A copy of their marriage bond is on microfilm in the Filson Library in Louisville, KY.

Milly and Ignatius sons were Joseph, William Ambrose, Ignatius Jr and James. Their daughters were Nancy and Mary Polly.

Milly's name does appear several different ways. The marriage bond calls her Milly but other accounts call her Marry and Melvina. The accounts of her great grandson, Charles Strange, call her Melvina.

Her burial site has not been determined but may be with Ignatius at the Faith Cemtery near Bramble, IN
