Runeral services for Hedwig Louise Haacke wife of the late Charles A. Haacke of South Bountiful were held Tuesday Jan, 3, 1950 in the ward chapel. Bishop Alma D. Eakle was in charge of the services with Clyde Campbell offering the prayer at the home. Bishop Eakle related incidents concerning the conversion and life of the deceased. He also paid high tribute to her good deeds and the outstanding qualities of her family who have reisded in the community sice 1911. Bishop Walt Hogan also spoke of the many attributes of the deceased as he had learned them throught his association over a period of years.
Mrs. Haacke celebrated her 83rd birthday on Oct. 29 of this year having been born in Graditz, Silesia, Germany, in 1866 to Ignatz and Emella Wasdorf Grellert. At the age of 17 she came with her sisters to America making her home in Salt Lake City. On July 6, 1887 she married Charles A. Haacke in the Logan temple. The family resided in Salt Lake City except for a few years spent in Canada where Mr. Haacke helped establish a branch of Silver Brothers Iron Works In 1911 they came to Wood Cross where they made permanent residence. Mr. Haacke served in the bishopric of the Second ward in Salt Lake City as well as acting as counselor in South Bountiful. Mrs, Haacke was an ardent supporter of her belief participating in many activities in the communities in which she lived. She was the mother of ten children, nine sons of whom survive; Edwin Rand, Stanley G. Haacke of Woods Cross; Wilford J. and Leslie C. Haacke of Bountiful; Herbert Haacke of Centerville, Utah; Elmer G. Haacke of Los Angeles, Calif. A son, Rulon passed away while trturning to his home after colpleting a mission to New Zealsan and a daughter, Helen died at the age of one year.
