Passing of Veteran Preacher
Word was received here yesterday of the death of Rev. James W. Anderson at his home in Kirksville [MO]. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Anderson and spent his boyhood days at their farm home south of town, now the Geo. W. Anderson farm. The body will be brought to Laclede for burial Friday, services being held at the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock. He had been a Methodist minister for more than a half century, filling some of the most important charges in the state. He retired from the ministry a number of years ago. He is survived by his wife and a grandson by a former marriage, Bemrose Boyd, of Keokuk, Iowa. His first wife who died some years ago was a sister of Geo. W. Bemrose residing southeast of Laclede. He was past 85 years old.
