1955 Jun 3 p.29 Ernest Adair Found Shot To Death Ernest Tindall Adair, 63, was found shot to death at his Dakota Street home Thursday morning at 10. County police reported he apparently committed suicide. Members of his family reported he had been in ill health. Coroner George L.Adams said no inquest was planned. Police said death was caused by a .22 caliber rifle shot which entered his forehead over the right eye. An attempt at suicide was made by Mr. Adair several months ago, the family said. Mr. Adair was born in Spartanburg County and had lived in the city about 50 years. A son of the late Baron C. and Hester Tindall Adair, he was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by the Revs. C. B. Prince and William Page. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. W. C. Byrd of Thomaston, Ga.; two sons, W.C. and C. H. Adair, both of Spartanburg; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Harris of Spartanburg and Mrs. Wallace O'Shields of Pauline Route 1; and two brothers, Boyce of Pauline Route 1 and Lewis Adair of Spartanburg. The body is at the J. F. Floyd Mortuary. It will be taken to the church Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
