Louis Bapst passed to his eternal rest Sunday, March 3, after a short illness with dropsy. tie had been slightly failing in health for some time, but his trouble did not assume an acute form until about two weeks ago, when he was taken down.

Mr. Bapst was horn in Alsace, France, on November 4, 1852, making him aged fifty four years, three months and twenty-nine days. He emigrated to this country twenty seven years ago settling at Summit, Steuben county, where he remained for several years. Later he removed to Waterloo where he was employed on the Lake Shore as a section foreman.

He came to Garrett some sixteen or seventeen years ago and worked in the car shop, having to give up manual labor later on account of failing health Immediately following his departure from the B&O eight years ago, he went into business continuing the same until his sad demise.

The funeral service was conducted from the Catholic church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock and interment was made at Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Bapst's popularity was evidenced by the large attendance at the obsequies, among which was about forty friends from Summit, his former home.

He possessed a pleasing manner and was influential among his large coterie of friends.
