John was born in Poland Germany in June of 1852 according to the 1900 census.

John married Augusta Zampka in 1872. (sometimes spelled Lampka)

According to Castle Garden's records...
John's alternate name was Ganezinski. He came to the US at the age of 28 on April 2, 1881 from Russia - Port of Departure LIVERPOOL & QUEENSTOWN. Providence POLAND. He paid for his own ticket. He was married at the time. He came with his wife Augusta, (he was a farmer) his infant son Franz, and another child who was 3 at the time who had the first initial of L. The ship was called CITY OF CHESTER.

Gminski was also spelled Gmnienski according to city directories.

1900 census show Immigration records to the US in 1882.

John and Augusta had the following known children...
1. a female child born in 1878 with the first initial of L. (Castle Garden records).
2. a son Franz who was born in 1881 in Poland. (Castle Garden)
3. a daughter, Veronika (Vera) Gminski (Pankowski) who was born October 9, 1879 in Germany and who died December 20, 1947 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
4. a son John who was born in October, 1884,
5. a son called Baby Francis who was born December 10, 1885 and died on December 12, 1885 due to cramps and weekness. He is buried at Woodland Catholic Cemetery.
6. a daughter called Baby Rozaria who was born May 21, 1888 and died May 24, 1888 from weekness and is buried at Woodland Catholic Cemetery

Helen born December 1898 was one years old and Augusta's mother Katie Zambka was living with them. She was born June 1821 in Poland Germany and she was now widowed. According to the census Katie had one child only and one was living. She immigrated in 1885 and she had been 15 years in the US at that time and was naturalized.

According to 1910 census... John Gminski was 56 years old. His wife Augusta was 53 and they had been married for 35 years. Joseph was 19 and Julia was 16 years old. They lived on Worley Avenue in Cleveland. Augusta had 10 children at the age of 35 and only 3 were in 1910 census.
