Harvey kin: Thomas Turpin who md. Rachel Cheatwood and Ackerley and Parker's book has his will and he had the farm next to our kin, US President Thomas Jefferson's POPLAR FOREST. Thomas Turpin's will is in Bedford County and Virginia Anne has about 7 lines of Revolutionary War soldiers that give her direct DAR/SAR lineage.
Virginia Ann Thaxton Harvey died March 31, at her home in Roseland.
Born in Nelson County on Aug. 8, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John Fields and Mary Loving Saunders Thaxton.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas Bland Harvey; four daughters, Marion Tyler and husband, Reid, of Raleigh, N.C., Melanie Fastabend and husband, Vince, of Lynchburg, Courtney Kirkwood and husband, Todd, of Tasley, and Francee Laverty and husband, Darcy, of Roseland; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Luke Fastabend of Lynchburg; and sister, Jonni Hatcher of St. Augustine, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Murphy.
A celebration of life service was held on April 1 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. C. Randall Harlow officiating.
In honor of Kelsey and Luke, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont's "Journeys" program, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 2, Charlottesville, VA 22903. "Journeys" is a program for children and teens that are affected by a serious illness or the death of a loved one.
