Bert E. Gates, 70 died Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the State Soliders home hospital where he had been a patient the past year. He had been ill for six years.
Born in this city, he lived in Tippecanoe county all of his life. He was a carpenter for National Homes corporation until his illness in 1943. A veteran of the Spanish-American war he was a member of the Concord Evangelical United Brethren church.
Surviving besides the widow Mrs. Bertha L. (Royer) Gates are a son Warren L. of here; two sisters Mrs. Lon Roberts of Veedersburg and Mrs. Claude Brewer of Danville Illinois and a brother Grover G. of this city.
