Death: Jun. 11, 1923

Obituary from the Adams County Free Press:
Elisha Benjamin Polson was born in Marion county, Iowa Dec 17th, 1854, and
departed this life at his home in Prescott, June 11th, 1923, aged 68 years, 5
months, and 24 days. When a boy of 18 he came with his parents to Adams county
which has since been his home. He was married to Elizabeth Smart June 30th,
1878 and they commenced housekeeping on the same farm until about 3 years ago
when they took up residence in Prescott. Seven children were born to this
union, two dying in infancy. Mr Polson led an active life and his illness and
death came as a shock to all. When he went to Omaha to a hospital for treatment
and the family were not given any hope for his recovery, he was brought home and
his loving companion and sorrowing children hovered around his bedside until the
last, doing all that willing hands and loving hearts could do to make him
comfortable. He was a patient sufferer and asked them not to grieve, saying he
was ready to go and all was well with him. He admonished his children to be
kind and and to hold up the hands of the erring one of earth. Mr Polson was a
man who stood for honor and integrity and right living. His kindly genial smile
was alike for great and small. To know him was to love him, and he numbered his
friends by his acquaintances. A highly respected citizen, a loyal neighbor and
a warm friend; a loving companion and a noble father. He will be greatly missed
in our community for the many kind acts he bestowed on all who needed help. It
is hard to bow our heads in humble submission but we know he has gone where
there is no more pain, to the one who doeth all things well and we can but say,
God's will be done. He leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, two
son's Johnny W. and Raymond S of Prescott, also three daughters, Elva and Daisy
of Omaha, and Mabel of Prescott, one brother, Thos Polson of Creston, one
sister, Mrs. M.F. Cash of Stl Joseph, Mo and five grandchildren, also scores of
friends. Funeral services were held at the late home Thursday at 2 pm conducted
by Rev W.H. Warrior. The pallbearers were Leonard Lawrence, J. D. Mellravy,
Elmer Steele, Dudley Gaddis, Frank and George Packenham. The remains were laid
to rest in Mt. Zion cemetery.
