Obituary from The Jackson Republic newspaper dated Friday, July 7, 1905:
Death of M. S. Clough
M. S. Clough, a pioneer resident of Jackson, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ebenezer Rice, of this city, on Monday evening last, after several months lingering illness. The funeral was held from the M. E. church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Reverend T. H. Wilkinson preaching the sermon from the text, "Immortality."
Mr. Clough was born in 1828, and at the age of 11 years was converted and joined the M. E. church and was a member of that church up to the time of his death. He came to Jackson in 1860 and has resided here ever since. He was a citizen highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him and he leaves a number of relatives and a host of friends who deeply mourn him.
