Son of John Wesley and Martha Ann Harvey Mauldin.
Grandparents are Absolom and Cnythia Caroline Seale Mauldin.
His Mauldin family has a rich history coming from North Carolina through the Golden Corner of South Carolina to Georgia through the historical gold rush days to Tennessee, Alabama and settling in historical Pontotoc county Mississippi on the historical Natchez Trace, later some settling in Arkansas and Texas.
He served in the 41st Mississippi Company A, known as the Talibonelli Rifles raised in Pontotoc county Mississippi in the summer of 1862. This infantry was formerly Company C regiment, Mississippi CSA. He served from 1862 to 1865 when the war ended.
The Mauldin family named their male children and sometimes females after fathers, brothers and uncles.
