Roane county was founded in 1801, located in the Tennessee Valley near the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau. At one time this land was the home of the Cherokee people.
The Headrick emigrants were some of the first people to come to America from Scotland in 1760.
The Cornelius name has it's origin in England and was changed to Cornelison by the family in the mid 1840's in Old Tishomingo county, Mississippi, some of the family still used the first spelling in later years, but it is the same family.
