Edward Murnahan was the first Murnahan in the current Lawrence County, Ohio area and shows up in Gallia Co. taxlists as early as 1812. He served in the War of 1812 from the Ohio Volunteer Militia under Capt. Roadarmor, also from Gallia Co. He married Mary Clark, daughter of Anthony and Catherine Clark, in Monroe Co., Va/WV in 1799. Edward and Mary had at least the following children: Elizabeth, Hiram, Katherine, Jane, and John. According to deed transactions Edward died between Sept. 20, 1845 and Mar. 29, 1848. After Edward's death, his wife, Mary, moved to Hamilton Co., Illinois to live with her daughter, Elizabeth, where she died in 1860. Mary is buried in New Prospect Cemetery in that county.
Whoever transcribed his headstone before it fell apart, or reset the stone and added the fencing, most likely has a picture of the full headstone. If anyone has one, please email me.
