Jessie Clement and Mary Edna Huff were married in Venango County, Pennsylvania and moved by train to Oklahoma. Jessie worked in the oil industry. The couple had six children.

Jessie donated his horse Rex to the army for the war effort.

Their son, Ellsworth, had been working in Idaho for the CCC and a party was planned for his homecoming. Although Mary was against the party, Jessie arranged for a band to play and the guests were to chip in 5 to 10 cents for the entertainment. One of the party goers refused to pay, fatally stabbed Jessie Clement just inside his front door with his family all witnessing the event. His attacker served 10 years of the 30 years sentenced for the murder.
