"Georgetown, Tenn., Sept. 2 W. T. Guinn, well-known farmer of Meigs County, was found dead early Sunday morning by his son Claud. Apoplexy was given as the direct cause of his death, but M. Guinn had been in feeble health for some time. He is survived by six sons, the Rev. Benjamin Guinn of Nashville; John Tom, and Eugene of Chattanooga, Claud of Georgetown, and George W. Guinn of Decatur; four daughters, Mrs. Bertha Parker, of Bloomfield, IA, Mrs. Luther Pratt of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Bruce Shields of Charleston, and Miss Lucinda of Georgetown. Funeral services and interment were at the Johnston graveyard, the Rev. Carson officiating."
William Thomas "Dock" Guinn was born to William James and Charlotte Elizabeth Stults Guinn on 2-7-1855 in Tennessee. Dock lived in Hamilton, Tennessee in 1860, according to the 1860 Census. He had three siblings: "Kim" America Clementine Guinn Ford, James Guinn and "Dave" David Nelson Guinn.
On June 9, 1872, Tennessee, Dock married Effie Matilda Moon. Together Dock and Effie had 13 children: William, Lucinda, Mollie, James, George, John, Benjamin, Bertha, Wiley, Claude, Effie, Thomas and Hattie. In the 1880 Census the family was living in Sullivan, TN and in the 1900 Census they were living in Meigs County, TN. Dock's wife Effie passes away in 1912.
August 21, 1925, William Thomas Guinn passed away.
