Born to Joseph Scippio Henderson (1860-1929) & Mary Elizabeth Reynolds Henderson (1865-1947), both of Alabama. Irene appears in the 1900 and 1910 Gregg County censuses with her parents. Irene married Frederick Pirtle Adams after 1910 in Gregg County, TX.

Six children:
• Elizabeth Adams Stevenson (1916-2011)
• infant son Adams (1918-1918)
• Frederick Pirtle "Fred" Adams, Jr. (1919-1980)
• Mildred Irene Adams Caskey (1921-2008)
• Catherine Adams Bowen (1923-1987)
• Joseph Scippio Adams (1925-1999)

Irene Adams died at age 102.
